  • Former Head of Sales, Australia, at Axi.
  • Former General Manager, Australia, at FXTM.

Trading experience and research interests

In 2013, Simon joined Propex as a proprietary trader, trading spreads in Australian and U.S. government bonds. Through that experience, he recognised that his temperament was not well suited to discretionary trading that relied on decisions made in the moment.

He subsequently combined his engineering and science background with extensive AI-assisted programming and the use of EAs, or automated trading programs, to build his own trading system. His approach translates trading ideas into rules that can be tested and executed, reducing the influence of emotions on decisions. He focuses on designing systems that account for human limitations rather than relying solely on willpower to overcome trading emotions.

His research and teaching focus is developing judgements that can be tested in uncertain markets.
